IN ALL CAPS by Retconned
2005 CD-R This product is currently sold out Having abandoned the dissonant "minimalism about militarism" schtick of his 2003 release, "Game Sounds", Retconned seems a lot less crazed, and a lot more soulful. A change in the means of production might be to blame: "IN ALL CAPS" abandons the downsampled, 8-bit aesthetic of previous releases for fat, layered, analog synths and tube-fried electric guitars, while songs focus less on cold war logic and post 9-11 battlefronts and more on pluralist blues. Retconned thinks this record sounds a little like a few of his pop favorites: The Idiot, Sound in Time, Replicas, Closer. Reviewers will probably think it bears a certain similarity to something he's never heard of that he will try to download off of Livewire after he reads the record review. Though less kind listeners have compared it to Mudhoney covering Ultravox, "IN ALL CAPS" is fourteen tracks of fuzzed out datapanik music that could appeal to fans of Trans Am, PiL, or the VSS. Released in July of 2005. Out Of Print. MP3 Sample: The Color No Listen To The Album |
